Helping entrepreneurs and businesses manage money…

“Being Half-Literate is Worse than Being an Illiterate.”

This was a statement my mother once said to me in reference to an argument between a Mechanical Engineer and an Accountant with a background in sciences, about how a washing machine spinner works.

Being a teenager then, it resonated with me and I have since looked at things objectively with an open mind. In school, I questioned everything I learnt like mathematical derivatives to fully understand its scope especially Accounting which is dogmatic.

For all the reasons that people seek more knowledge, only a few are common. For me, self-esteem and self-actualization are most important.

People rarely truly understand what really inspires them. In fact, asking most people will almost always result in a monetary response. I am inspired by how the activities I am engaged in lead to progress toward achieving set targets, so my strongest reasons identify with that. I also enjoy influencing people, usually colleagues at work, to deliver through leadership by example and listening to shared values as well as an analytical review of differences.

Moving up the corporate ladder is usually the direction employees strive for and I have experienced top management position as a Chief Operating Officer for up to three years. But I want to make a difference, hence the reason for embarking on a journey toward owning a business that will create a social impact. I am currently transitioning from self-employment to a full-fledged business owner, thereby putting the skills I have acquired over the years to progressive use as a Chartered Accountant.

My Journey

As a Chartered Accountant

My father always wanted me to further my studies. Even though I had registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as a student member in 2014, I also decided to seek employment to build a career as a professional. It was challenging finding a suitable place to work as I had little practical experience and my skillset level was low due to my theoretical based educational background.

Experience Highlight:

Over the past few years, I have gained practical knowledge of some vertical industries in Nigeria ranging from Telecommunications, Banking, and Information Technology. My development as a young business manager began in 2017 when I joined IPI Solutions Nigeria Limited responsible for finance and business analysis, I particularly enjoyed getting hands-on with a substantive approach in business development activities to technical deployments. My improved business acumen, among other things, eventually led to my appointment as Chief Executive Officer having rose through the ranks rapidly.
